Otherwise, stick around if you just want to learn about the Dell Inspiron 15 5585 laptop.

That being said, as you should already know by now, the beauty we have for your enjoyment (pun unintended) comes from the Inspiron laptops range. This budget-performance laptop is ideal for anyone looking to enjoy some mid to above-average performance for an affordable price.

So without further ado, let’s dig right in!

Dell Inspiron 15 5585 Specs

The Dell Inspiron 15 5585 is similar to its twin, the Dell Inspiron 15 5584. However, the fundamental difference between the two laptops is that the 5585 has an AMD Ryzen 7 processor. In contrast, the 5584 has an Intel processor.

You might assume that the two laptops’ performance is similar since the processors are almost the same. However, you couldn’t be more wrong. There are some differences between the two, which we might discuss in another article.

Here is a brief overview of the Dell Inspiron 15 5585 specs.

Moving on, our Dell Inspiron 15 5585 Ryzen 7 processor delivers a solid performance that outstrips its competition within the same price range. However, the Inspiron 15 5585 is still a budget laptop. Hence, you should not expect something too extra-terrestrial.

Moreover, suppose you are looking for something even more affordable. In that case, you can get a cheaper Inspiron 15 5585 that comes equipped with less powerful AMD Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 3 processors.

Another advantage I adulate is that the Inspiron 15 5585 comes with a 15.6″ FHD display that supports higher resolutions and color fidelity. The only minor drawback of the display is that it’s not touch-capable.

However, as a touchscreen is not a priority feature for most users, the 5585 is still a solid buy. Moreover, the non-touch top-notch display is still suitable to get some visual work done on your laptop.

Modest gaming performanceNo fingerprint sensor
Dual storage device support

In terms of memory and storage, our Dell Inspiron 15 5585 RAM had 8 GBs of DDR4 chips inserted into two slots. If you feel that’s insufficient, you can also upgrade it to a maximum of 32 GBs of memory. As for storage, the 5585 can equip an SSD and an HDD simultaneously. This means you get to enjoy the best of worlds – the lightning speed of SSDs and the affordability of HDDs.

Our 5585 model came with a 256 GB SSD, which might be small for some users. However, there’s no need to panic, as the 5585 can support up to 1 TB SSD and 2 TB of HDD storage, for a grand total of 3 TB of storage. Wow!

If you have checked out other laptops at this price range, you can tell that the Dell Inspiron 15 5585 price is a bargain. This laptop is an absolute gem at a price range most populated by ancient lumps of coal.

Dell Inspiron 15 5585 Gaming and Performance

As previously mentioned, the Dell Inspiron 15 5585 is not some outlandishly powerful laptop. Instead, it’s a modest laptop designed to be inexpensive yet powerful enough to enjoy some moderate gaming on titles like Fortnite.

If you are looking for a more robust laptop, you are searching in the wrong place. It would be best to look at prices of at least $1500, almost $1000 more than the Dell Inspiron 15 5585. For example, check out our review of the Dell Precision 3541 workstation laptop.

Build, Chassis and Looks

With their metal top cover, Dell Inspiron laptops are looking more and more like their cousins, the premium Dell XPS laptops. However, the Dell Inspiron range is still for budget laptops despite the improved looks. Therefore, as soon as you open the Inspiron 15 5585’s lid, you’ll find that most of the laptop is made of plastic, including the hand rest and the bottom cover.

This is not to say a plastic chassis is bad. It’s just that if you crave that premium metal aesthetic, you’re probably going to be disappointed. However, if you don’t mind the plastic body, the 5585 looks great. The design is flawless and well-thought-out, while the build quality is decent.

Moving on to the keyboard, the 5585’s keyboard doesn’t have a number pad. If you often use the number pad, you know how convenient it is. However, if you don’t mind the missing number pad, then the Dell Inspiron 15 5585 was designed for you.
